Sharon Loves: Some high street and internet finds!
Not sure about you lovely lot but I love a good candle and while having a nose on Newlook i clocked an interesting sounding scent “Elderflower and Prosecco” (£7 for the jar , and £3.99 for 9 tealights) so I’ve popped some into the basket and waiting for them to arrive, If it smells nice i think it could make a lovely bridal gift, A possible wedding shoe! an ASOS find, the sparkle! the gold! the shimmer! *swoon* these are a style I’ve been looking at alot these past few months and at £35 who can complain! This little lace number is so pretty (another New Look find £39.99) It could make for a perfect honeymoon dress, visions of walking through the winding city streets of Rome or Barcelona or even on golden beaches far and near.
Pink is really doing it for me recently and the shade “bubblegum bath” by OPI is really lovely, its keeping on trend with this seasons colour “Rose Quarts”

Just some things for you to nose at on this chilly and grey day!
Till next time!

Spring has sprung

Spring is just round the corner, or so i’ve been told! With spring comes the flurry of spring weddings! all bright eyed and bushy tailed! so here are a few internet/magazine finds that i’d like to share. The Mr and Mrs balloons were spotted in Perfect Wedding Magazine and there by Beau-coup.com
I’m not a huge balllon fan but paired with the paste;lribbons they’d work really well for the card and book signing area. The invites perfectly bright and very spring like – by Nina Thomas Studio found on notonthehighstreet, Other pinterests find are the flower lolliepops ideal for favours – The Little Lollipop Shop, The Ribbons wands, if your venue doesn’t allow confetti then i think these add that perfect alternative – by Ginger Ray UK

The “naked” cake is still on tread, to be honest i think it’ll hang around for a little while yet. Adding some delicate spring flowers and just a dusting of icing is really affective, simple but still ever so pretty. And the bouquet, pink roses with some lavender,a beautiful and fresh sent and of course the colours are just lovely!

Venues

Venues.

I would most definitely put picking a venue on the top three important “to do” list. 1. Date, 2. Venue and 3. Photographer, If like me you had a date in mind go and get it! then the venue and finish off with your photographer – thats just as hard picking a venue as theres such talent here, but enough and onto Venues!!

This island may be small, but it doesn’t lack for options when it comes to venues, you want a famous historical venue? We’ve got it, you want a manor house? We’ve got those, you want modern? You guessed it we have those too! The list of registered venues is great. So I’ve put a few together just to give you an idea of what’s out there.

Hotels
A popular choice for weddings, having everything done under one roof can take alot of the stress out of planning, I’ve choosen 6, but there are far more, heres just a taster. Priory Bay hotel, Albert Cottage, Ryde Castle, The Hambourgh, The Royal and Lakeside Park Hotel

a03faec833fea770416e-tile Gardens, lodges, arts centers and everything inbetween.
I can’t express enough how much choice the island holds when it comes to picking a venue, if you’re into sailing than any number of the islands sailing clubs would be perfect for you, if you’re into history then the roman villa could be for you! and the gardens here on the island are truly stunning, so heres another 6 different venue options for you.
Bowcombe Lodge, Quay Arts centre, Bembridge sailing club, Brading Roman Villa, Ventnor Botanical gardens, Calbourne Mill.f2a636099052cf92385f37b2b63a4bec-tile Manors houses:
We really don’t lack for impressive manor houses on this beautfiul Isle, so heres another 6 venues for you to look at. Northcourt, Arreton Manor, Appuldurcombe, Landguard manor, Barton manor, East Dene 3035a-tile

So there you have it, thats just 18 out of so many more wedding venues. for a full list please head on over to the Isle Of Wight Council and check out their list of licensed venues!

Real Isle Of Wight Winter Weddings:

Winter, the season where hiding away feels like a really good idea, the warmth of summer is being missed and the bright colours are far and few between. I make it sound like an awful season, but actually there is a magic that stirs and it awakens only really at this time of year, love and friendships shine that little bit brigther. Winter walks on the island show of a whole different side that the hoilday makers won’t see, the pubs are so inviting some with crackling log fires, warming cocktails and a whole bounty of delicous food is aplenty. Christmas is just around the corner and of course that brings with it its festive cheer, its infectious, so much so that some couples choose this season to get wed and i can’t blame them.

Here i wanted to share some Winter weddings here on our beautiful lsle Of Wight.

Bridal fashion week: Fall 2016

Bridal fashion week for fall 2016 is in full swing, here are some of my favourite so far!

What I’m seeing across the board so far, is alot shimmer and sparkle but subtle , Lace is still going strong which i think is great, lots of soft and delicate detailing. I’m loving the more “modern” styles, bold with simple lines, the two piece is growing in popularity the idea of mixing style to best to your shape i believe will work with a lot of brides.

Wedding favour ideas.

Wedding Favour ideas.
Favours to do or not to do? In the last 10 or so years favours have become apart of the norm at weddings receptions.I know for some, favours can be viewed as a waste of money and that money could be better used else where, but for  others there an added little memento of the couple’s big day.

So if you’re in the boat of yes! Or still on the side lines, here are some favour ideas.

Drinks:
Our Island may be small but we are lucky enough to hold host to 2 wine yards, 3 breweries, a cider house (?) and a distillery now that’s now bad going is it? All of which make and sell some fab tasting drinks. The options are pretty varied and I think you could find something to suite your crowd. From sweet favoured wines, to smooth and rich ales and refreshing ciders. Local attractions like the Garlic farm and Ventnor botanic gardens have come up with their own unique favours.

Sweet treats.
Ahhh sweets! perhaps my biggest enjoyment! seeing that little box of goodies brings a smile to my face every time. But what sweet treat do you opt for? well the choice is really yours, you could opt for pic’n’mix jars, sweet trees – these act as a great table decoration at the same time which is a nice tasty bonus!.
You could opt for macaroons these come in every colour and flavour you can dream up. Living in or near any seaside location rock should be a worthy candidate.

page

DIY
I know i know DIY! what mad woman/man would opt to sit and make who knows how many DIY favours for their wedding? Well if you’re up for it there are some fab low cost favours you could make. for me personally cookies or chutneys is what springs to mind, with little printable tags and little suggestions what to have them with or just instructions, It costs a lot less than you might think and it’ll store well so you can make it in the months before to the wedding.
page

Outdoors
This idea is in favour of nature and eco-friendly, these are something that will be enjoyed months after the big day, maybe a hint of DIY again… You could use any seeds you like again there is such a variety, I’d opt for seeds that attract butterfly’s and the bee’s I like to sit in the garden with a brew and watch them dance from flower to flower. I believe in moment of calm and once you see those greens shoots it’s hard not to look forward to the blooms that come. and with the seed hangers that of course will brings birds and that too is also lovely.  page

Novelty:
What about favours that your guests can have a little fun around the table with.. what about personalised transfer tattoos? or what about little bags of Lego people, your guests can swap and change and create funky characters.
page

Charity.
Last but not least, what about a donation to a your charity of choice, I’ve seen these grow ever more in popularity and it is a really lovely idea!

Trash the dress take two!

Afternoon Brides!!!

This weekend a familiar face was back to trashing her dress!!! you may remember  me sharing the fab sea trashing blog post with bride Danielle Ginno, Well she’s only gone and done another! I have to say I’ve become quite familiar with this dress, as featured her wedding back in 2011 to Grant. So one trash wasn’t enough, what route did she opt for this time?  A 5k run in Portsmouth in aid of “Help for Heroes” now not happy with just running no she opted for the “Run or Dye” run, a 5k route with everyone throwing dye!!
What Danielle said about the run “As you run around the course you come up to various dye stations along the way with organisers throwing handfuls of dye at the runners, then at the end its the dye festival where the guy on stage blasts out music while covering you with the dye and he throws packets and packets into the crowd ready for the dye throw – This is where he counts down and everyone throws their dye in the air together to create a sea of colour. That was amazing!!!”

I asked why she opted to do another trash:
Danielle: Because my dress cost me a lot of money and it seemed crazy to leave it in the loft with the ideal that my daughter may wear in one day (I’d hate for her to feel she had to wear it just because I’d kept it for her). So I made use of it! The colour of my dress now is amazing and I hope it encourages other brides to make use of their dresses one last time. A brides dress is one of the biggest parts of her day – putting it on and feeling like a princess again brings back so many happy memories. The pictures that were taken have captured those memories again and that’s pretty cool too!

IOWbrides:Is this the last trash? or shall we watch this space?

Danielle:Haha! My dress is trashed but it may appear at next years run… Hopefully leading plenty of beautiful brides in white dresses into a world of colour!

First day of Autumn!!

“So it’s the first day of autumn! A time of hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, and best of all, leaping into LEAVES!” – Pooh Bear

Can’t say it any better than that really! Autumn weddings are all about the comfort, the cosy and warming, my mind springs to friends and family laughing and getting to know each other while toasting marshmallow’s over a fire, or indulging in some fab mulled drinks be it cider or wine. A buffet of all the bounty from the harvest, fruit filled pies and amazing breads and meats! Yup its safe to say Autumn is my favourite season!

Happy Autumn IOWbrides!!!Firstdayautumn
