All About The Wedding – Review

All About The Wedding – Presented by Karen Robb of Dornellie

484863_254900617980444_449792143_nSaturday saw myself and good friend Lottie my fab web and design lady go over to Northwood House for Dornellie’s “All About The Wedding”, The Island was drenched in sunshine, a perfect day for the event and those lucky couples getting married. As we approached, Northwood house was stood out beautifully, set in extensive grounds and with a lovely view looking over the solent this makes for a lovely venue.

Upon arriving and paying for our tickets we were met with a beautiful set up which included the talents f  Blushing Blooms, Duncan Knifton, and Miss Dotty’s Cakes

Duncan was our first go to person, set up was a backdrop with some nifty computer works next to it, he told us that the idea was that knowing how unpredictable the English weather can be, he could go to a venue and take a few snaps on bright sunny days, so that if on you big day the clouds roll in and the heavens open you are still able to have some good photos, as all you’ll have to do is stand on the backdrop do your family shots and then Duncan can fill in the background!. brilliant! He also had a really lovely little trinket in which to present the newly wedded couple their photos, a lovely heart shaped USB, its adorned with gems which can either take pride of place on dresser, mantle or even be turned into a keyring as its that light it would work. photo(11)Next we went over to Miss Dotty’s Cakes, Wow! just wow – so creative, my favourite was the 4 tire garden cake, it had flowers, butterflies and blades of grass, but really all the cakes were fab, we a good chat about cakes, never two are the same and are always different which is good as it keeps her work up to date. Ellie was so easy to talk to and made me feel at ease, given this will be a first for many brides, chatting to someone who will be creating something you’ll remember you want to feel at ease and she made me feel very relaxed. MissDotty's cakesWe then went over and had a lovely chat with Blushing Blooms, Joanna
had created an amazing display!!!  she had gone with a sea theme, shells drift wood, sandy and sunshine like tones. I love that Joanne prides herself on giving her all to brides, knowing they all come in with different budgets she’ll do her best with the task at hand, again a real comfort for all.

blushingbloomsOur next drop in was in the room i liked the call “The True Bride Experience” In here we had Gems Bridal ware, Isle Of Wight Pearl , Sugar and Spice – have to say having never gone in to be fitted for a bra i’d definatly go for my bridal undies,as with all the suppliers at the show, it was easy to talk to Sheila, we talk hints and tips and how to get best results for each bride!, Abigail Steed photography, B Charlo Style and Dornelle Vails
This room was where brides to be could be dressed up and be accessorized with pearls, a vail, have their hair – Donna Jones and make up – Emma Fox done (Sunday) and then go on to have a photo taken. I loved this idea, speaking with the ladies we all agreed that trying your dress in store is totally different of course than it is on your big day, so this gave brides a chance to see just what they might look like!
We had a chat with the lovely lady holding the Earl Mountbatten stall, She told us about the new range of wedding sets – Invite, plave names and even charity boxes, i know time have changed and couples have most of what they need and don’t like to ask for anything, but then of course quest would like to give something so by having a charity boxes you can help raise money for a great cause.

Everyone was just so warm and welcoming, no pressure no awkwardness, on we went, it was a lovely flow something everywhere we turned!  so off to another room. This was decked out to its finest, in this room Personalized had set the room up with the Great Gatsby theme, something that is so big right now – even i got in the act a few weeks ago with my inspired board.

Doris pinks florist did a wonderful set up of the flowers to go with the tables.Near one of the windows was a lovely display of very 1920’s esk his and hers outfits created by Karen of Dornelle. Also in this room was the lovely Sarah of Saltare, her dance company  offers lessons for the bride and groom to be to perfect their first dance or a different take on a hen parties, all sorts of themes and decades catered for! Over on the other side was Lesa of I Heart Buttons now i have to say i’ve ordered a few items from this lady yet have never actually gotten to meet her in person so it was lovely to finally have a good natter. I’ve always wanted hold one of the bouquets and if I’m honest i wondered if i would be able too, often is the case you can only look and not touch but, we were free to get up close and personal, there lighter than i thought but that’s no bad thing, also photos are wonderful but seeing these so close there even better! definitely worth the price!

More rooms, we stopped and had a chat with the lovely ladies of  Tie The Knot , the new bridal gown shop in Cowes high street, they had some lovely dresses, I’d suggest any bride to be to pop in, they have price ranges to suit most budgets, Also they stock Ada & Joesph button Bouquets, these bouquets are big business at the moment!!

Back out the way we came and down the hall, we had a lovely chat with Tina owner of The Bridal Lounge, asked a few questions and learned about the idea  behind the lounge, a place for brides and her girls to go to get ready before a hen party or wedding, Sometimes there just isn’t enough room to hold everybody or its just nice to get away from the hectic home life.
*Tina will keep us posted on upcoming features.

On the other side was Robert Langford Photography here he was displaying his new photobooth, something i’m loving right now! what was even better was that he was allowing people to give it a whirl, and i have to say even outside of a wedding or party i had a lot of fun so i can only imigine what it would be like with all your friends and family having ago contact Wight Photo Booth for more information.
img003Still more to see, we made our way down to an even bigger room, one which i’m sure is used for reception parties are northwood. I should mention the House manger took some time out while walking around to have a chat with us, told us some very interesing things that i think will go down well with couples planning on holding there day at the house, he told us that they will be having 5 different catering companies on hand to do you food, each at a different prices, offering different menus and none are the same. A feature he said that had been doing really well was the option to bring your own, apparently not many venues offer this, so they pride them selves on being as flexible as they can be! Fabulous news!!

So in this room we had Pettiecoats and Frills cakes, another Wow!! another amazing set up, i really am blown away by all of this creativity.
I know Jade is a new face in the crowd but shes definatly one to keep an on,Come on girls lets get some bridal cake shops opening!!
Also in this room was the lovely Clare of Wight Vintage photo(25)-horzI love the middle image, as you can see its picnic basket and i think it would make for a perfect bridal gift, being a big fan of tea with my Mr, having tea at the weekend is our thing and if i were to be given one of these are a wedding gift i’d be most happy!! also i’m hoping to be able to do a 1st look at a little project wight vintage were given, so i shall keep you posted.

Our day finished rather quickly if truth be told, there was so much to see and do, everyone was lovely, i know we didn’t get to everyone and missed a few demos which i feel horrible about, this after all was on a Saturday so they’d taken time away from work, but i hope those who went Sunday made up for it.

A word from Karen Robb aka the hostess!!

“This weekend saw the first All About The Wedding event which was a great success and was well received by all the brides attending.
The suppliers all had fun working hard to create a truly inspiration place to help brides plan their big day.
From fire eating acts to craft demos, dress and style advice to honeymoon help, all bases of the wedding day was covered.

I am so proud of what we all achieved and how well my bridal colleagues worked together to create this amazing experience.
With the good weather (booked especially!!) we all had a fantastic weekend and I will be looking into what we do for the next one!!!!”

A big thank you too Karen for a great weekend!! looking forward to the next one. 10/10!!
